FAQ

App & features

What is Chronos?

Chronos is a time tracking app for Jira, designed to make managing your daily worklogs simple and intuitive.

Does Chronos require admin permissions in Jira?

Chronos connects directly to your Jira account, so admin permissions are not required. However, Jira worklogs must be enabled, and certain admin settings might restrict app usage. If you encounter issues, let us know, and we’ll assist you. Refunds can also be requested via Apple’s “report a problem” platform.

Which platforms are supported?

Chronos is available exclusively on macOS. While we have a Windows build, there are no immediate plans for other platforms. If you’re interested in a specific platform, please let us know.

Can I use Chronos with other services than Jira?

Chronos is specifically designed for Jira and does not support other services. We are thinking about adding other services in the future, but for now we are focusing on Jira.

What technologies is Chronos built with?

Chronos is built using React Native macOS, offering a native experience with a lightweight footprint.

Why choose Chronos over free time-tracking apps?

While free alternatives like Timkee exist, Chronos is designed to provide a superior experience with features like support for multiple accounts and a sleek, intuitive interface. As a side project by two developers, our revenue helps cover essential costs like Apple developer licenses and hosting. If you're technically inclined, you can also clone our GitHub repository and build it yourself.

Is there a free trial available?

We do not offer a free trial. You can build the project yourself by cloning our GitHub repository and running it locally, but that requires technical knowledge.

Can I use Chronos offline?

Chronos requires an internet connection to sync with Jira. However, you can track time offline and then sync them once you’re back online.

Support & contact

I found a bug. Where can I report it and get help?

Contact us via email at support@chronos-for-jira.com or through our GitHub repository.

I am missing a specific feature. Can you add it?

We’re always open to feedback and feature requests. Please let us know what you’re missing, and we’ll consider it for future updates.

The app is not working for me. Can I get a refund?

If Chronos doesn’t work for you, contact us, and we’ll investigate. Refunds can also be requested via Apple’s “report a problem” platform.

I want to help develop this further. How can I contribute?

We appreciate your interest in contributing! You can report bugs, suggest features, or contribute code via our GitHub repository.

In which languages do you offer support?

We offer support in English and German and will respond in the same language you use.

Why do I get a Jira & User identity access error when logging in?

If you encounter the error "This app requires access to a Jira & User identity site which you don’t have or don’t have the permission to access.", it usually means your account doesn’t have access to Jira or external app access is restricted. Please ensure you are using the correct email address and verify that you can log in to the Jira web interface with your account. If you can access Jira but still face this issue, contact your Jira administrator as they may have restrictions in place.

Security & privacy

How does Chronos handle my data?

Chronos securely handles your data by using encrypted connections to communicate with Jira. We do not store your credentials or worklogs on our servers.

Does Chronos store my Jira credentials?

Chronos uses OAuth to connect to your Jira account. Your credentials are never stored on our servers, ensuring maximum security.
